Four years since the first installation of the K2150 motion sensor!

In September, exactly four years have passed since one of the first installations of our K2150 motion sensor for automatic control of warehouse lighting. It was a refrigerated warehouse of the Wimm-Bill-Dann company, Moscow.

The enterprise is the largest producer of dairy products in Russia and is part of the PepsiCo group of companies. Learn more...

In the summer of 2017, we proposed to conduct tests of a prototype (pre-production) sample of our K2150 motion sensor in the goods warehouse and the proposal was accepted. The sensor was installed in the center of one of the alleys at a height of 15m (warehouse height - 17m).
The tests lasted more than 1 year and ended successfully. We have sold a batch of sensors for 17 warehouse alleys, which were installed by a contractor in the fall of 2018.

What has the three-year experience of operating the K2150 sensors shown?

1. All sensors work reliably and do not require any maintenance work, adjustment of parameters, etc.

2. Due to its high sensitivity, each sensor confidently detects the movement of a person and equipment in an alley with a length of 65 m from a height of 15 m.

3. A sufficient degree of protection of the IP65 housing allows the sensor to operate reliably in a refrigerated warehouse (+4°C), while competitors' products with an IP54 protection degree often fail due to moisture condensation on the sensor's printed circuit board.

4. The established delay of turning off the lighting of only 1 minute is enough for the comfortable work of the warehouse staff. If competing products were used, it would be necessary to set a shutdown delay of at least 5 minutes due to the presence of "dead zones", which would significantly reduce the effectiveness of automation. Besides, competitors' products can only operate correctly when installed at a height of up to 12m.

5. Thanks to the installation of motion sensors in the alleys, the consumption of electricity by the warehouse lighting system according to meter readings has been reduced by 2.8 times.

6. Confirmed that one sensor can save 10,000 kWh of electricity per year. In this 5600 sq m warehouse, sensors save 185,000 kWh of electricity per year or 10,800 kWh per sensor per year!

7. Even taking into account the extremely low electricity tariff of Wimm-Bill-Dann (large wholesale buyer) 0.03 Eu / kWh, the payback period was only 18 months.
